Sicky

EVIL GERMS

All week I have been feeling horrible but today I am a true sicky. The day care is full of germs and sickness. First strep went around, then the flu, and now the throwing up flu and the runs. But personally for me all the boogies coming out of noses really sicks me out. (I gag everytime I have to wipe a kids nose) sorry future children your on your own when it comes to snot. The girls I work with could tell I wasn't feeling good so they sent me home. I went home at 3pm and went straight to bed and stayed there until 7pm. I don't feel good and I don't like it. I want winter to be over so our kiddys will quit making everyone sick. Although, I didn't have it as bad as Courtney (one of the girls I work with.) One of our little grils puke all over her this morning, down her shirt and everything. Sorry Courtney, no fun.

My New Laptop!

My New Blogging Tool
Ryan bought a laptop for only $50! The reason it was so low was because it was broken. Well of course Ryan can fix anything. (He once fixed my blowdry that stopped working completely. He is amazing.) He fixed this laptop and gave it to me! Now I have my very own. I'm excited that I will no longer be kicked off our other computers and I can now blog as much as I want! Thank you Ryan you are the best and I love you.

Just Say NO!

I am so proud of myself today! I went to Walmart, shopped for food, and waited in line RIGHT NEXT TO THE CANDY! Why do they have to put the candy there anyway didn't they know I'm on a diet and I cannot be tempted because I will give in. Well it was a long line like always and I was really trying to focus on my magazine and not look at the candy. I took a peek and that was it, I couldn't help but drool so I scanned the candy and picked up a York because it says right on the package that it has 70% less fat. I flipped it over and there it was 140 calories for that tiny little circle that isn't even that good. And..... I PUT IT BACK! I did! I didn't even think about it. Ok I did think about the fact that I was going to the gym when I got home and would have to work that 140 calorie candy bar off if I ate it which isn't worth it to me. I am very proud to say that I said No to my weakness. I am going to look fantastic in no time!

Bottle vs. Foutain

Bottle

VS.

Fountain

As many may know... I am seriously addicted to Mountain Dew but I only like the bottles. I told Ryan forever ago that I could tell the difference between a bottle, fountain and can MD. Ever since then he has wanted to test me and do a little experiment. Well Eric is in town and we all went to the gas station. I went back and got my bottle while the boys filled up at the fountain station. Eric said, "Bri did you know that the fountain is much cheaper?" I didn't even get to answer, Ryan took over and began to tell Eric how I only like the bottles. So they filled up the smallest cup with MD so they could test me when we got home. They blind folded me, poured both MDs into glasses with ice and gave me them one at a time. I thought I had it down, they let me taste each one five times and tell them which was which after each sip. The verdict.... I WAS COMPLETELY WRONG! I couldn't believe it! I was so conflicted, I sat there feeling saddened that I, me of all people couldn't tell the difference. How could this happen? How is it possible that the dirty fountain drink could taste as good as the bottle? The results clearly state that I like fountain better. But I am committed to the bottle and will never change that. I'm sorry to have to break the news to you MD lovers. It is all the same!

Really Scrabble?

Ryan and I have scrabble on our Xbox. The exact one above. Well we played it tonight with Eric, Ryan's brother and I LOST! Let me explain what happened... First of all I helped Eric with 3/4 of his words and they were big point words. Ryan was losing the whole time so he doesn't matter in this story. Anyway, the final score was Eric: 191 and Bri: 191 looking at these scores wouldn't you think "TIE!" Well no, the little potato guy announced that Eric won and I came in second. How is this possible stupid game. I won because nobody had to help me on my words and I totally played for Eric the entire time. I know that I am the TRUE winner so there. Eric I beat you fair and square, loser!

How do you become a chef if you HATE cooking!?

As of lately I have been addicted to watching the food network channel. I love it and it makes me hungry every single time I watch it without fail. So last night I was home alone and watching "Chopped." As I was watching these people hurry hurry fast to make a meal the thought came to me, "I want to become a CHEF!" Then I thought but I absolutely detest cooking. So how does a person become a chef if they hate cooking...?

The College Verdict

Ryan is graduating! This means that it is our last semester at North West College. I have actually really enjoyed the college experience and luckily for us it's not over yet. We have been trying to decide what 4 year school we want to transfer to (For Ryan mostly, I will just attend the community college). It has been between University of Wyoming or the University of Utah. We figured we could get in-state tuition in Utah because I get in-state here in Wyoming because of our marriage. Well Utah thinks that isn't okay. We can petition for it, but it wont be easy (they make it seriously complicated). Our best option is to stay in Wyoming. This is it! We are going to UW. Of course I was hoping for Utah but it just wasn't in the cards for us. Our next adventure will begin in Laramie, Wyoming. Who knows... I might end up living in Wyoming forever...

My 2 biggest FEARS!

1. SHARKS!

I hate sharks! First of all I won't go near the Ocean. Secondly, I have to admit that when I am in any kind of water (lakes, pools, the bath...) if I even begin to think about a shark I have to get out right then and there. It terrifies me to even think about it. This is the one and only fear I will never confront.

2. DEER

I know these two animals are on two very different ends of the scale, but I truly hate deer. I'm not as "afraid" as I used to be but they still creep me out! I have had terrifying experiences with these creatures. Here are only two... 1. A neighbor found a dead, stiff, skinny, road kill deer that stood all by itself and placed it on our doorstep. I opened the door. 2. I have seen far to many of these things hanging off a poky fence (dead, most the time) when they tried to jump over it. It's mostly the fur that creeps me out. I don't understand it but it is entirely true. It's bad enough that I hate these things, but I also have to live in Wyoming were there are millions everywhere!

THE TWO MOST AMAZING SOUPS IN THE WORLD!

FRENCH ONION
I was so amazed at how fast it is to make this soup. It is so good!

INGREDIENTS:
3 Onions, sliced
1/2 C. butter
2 T. instant beef soup mix or 6 beef bullion cubes
4 C. water
1 T. Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp. salt
sliced fresh mushrooms, opt.

DIRECTIONS:
Saute onion in butter, add mushrooms if desired. Stir in remaining ingredients and simmer until onions are cooked. Makes 4 servings.

BRI'S TIP: Add the mushrooms! Try topping the soup off with a toasted piece of bread and some swiss cheese.

SAUSAGE AND POTATO

This soup is amazing and it was so easy to make!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 3/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1 slice pancetta bacon, diced
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons garlic, minced
  • 1 cube chicken bouillon
  • 4 cups water
  • 2 potatoes, cubed
  • 2 cups kale, rinsed and julienned
  • 1/3 cup heavy cream

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C).
  2. Place sausage links on a sheet pan and bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until done. Cut each link in half lengthwise, and then into 1/2 inch slices. Set aside for later.
  3. In a 4 quart saucepan over medium heat, saute the onions and the pancetta for 10 minutes, or until onions are almost clear. Add the garlic and saute for one more minute. Add the chicken base OR bouillon, water and potatoes and bring to a simmer for 15 minutes. Add the kale, cream and reserved sausage, simmer for 5 more minutes and serve.

BRI'S TIP: If you add the bacon add way more than one slice. Also try serving this awesome soup with some homemade bread sticks!

FROSTBITTEN

I am so sick and tired of this Wyoming weather! Yesterday it was -6 all day long and of course it got colder as it got darker. With it being so cold everything is ICE! The roads, the ground, my nose hairs, pretty much everything. It is so cold that by the time I get to class (and I speed walk) my ears are burning with pain from being frozen, my nostrils are frozen together, my eyes were watering but they too are now frozen, and I literally cannot feel any part of my body. You cannot be outside more than two minutes or you will be frostbitten. It's true, it is that cold. I beg of you Ryan, please take me on a vacation and get me out of here before I freeze to death!
