Get it DONE!

I am so proud of myself. Usually my Thursdays consist of 2 classes, 2 hours of work, MD, laying on the couch watching TV, and eventually napping. So pretty much I am a lazy person and I love Thursday! But today I changed it up. This is what I did!

Dishes
Dinner for Ryan and I
More Dishes
Putting away laundry
Making the bed
Vacuuming all rooms
Packing! If you can call it that.
Deep cleaning
Deep cleaning the stove top and soaking the burner holders
Sweeping
Going to the Gym for an HOUR
Homework
And I snuck in ONE episode of Color Splash!

I am so proud to say that I was productive and not lazy. Hopefully this attitude and motivation sticks because next week is the last week of classes, the week after FINALS and graduation, and then the MOVE. Bring it on!

*This is what I meant by Packing? I got so excited about moving that I just started taking everything off the walls and taking down decorations like a crazy person. The problem is that I have no boxes so I ended up piling everything in the corner. Bad idea now that I think about it. Oh well!

We Are Moving

Ryan and I got back very late last night from our trip. The trip consisted of free food, free hotel, getting an apartment, Ryan signed up for classes including one summer class, and hanging with friends. So this is all happening faster than I thought it would. Getting an apartment and Ryan taking a summer class means we have to be in Laramie by May 16th! That means we have to move in a month! I don't know how this happened but I am excited about it. For awhile now we have been trying to decide whether to go to Utah or Wyoming for school. Of course my first choice was Utah and I think Ryan really wanted that too but I kept having this feeling that we were supposed to go to Laramie...! I don't know why but on our trip it was confirmed and I just know that we need to be there. It makes me sad that I will be away from my family for longer now but it feels good to know what your supposed to do. And I have to admit that I am excited about it. I am really starting to enjoy Wyoming and we get a bonus.. Our friends will be there soon after we will.

On Campus

This is Laramie! It is bigger that Powell for sure.

Love this Week!

I am so happy about this week. Lately I have been overwhelmed with school, work, and church callings. So.... I need this week. To start off this amazing week I only have to go to dreaded psychology once this week! (And this is an everyday class) My teacher will be out of town! Bonus for me! Next. It was advising day today so NO CLASSES! I only had to go to work for 2 hours today. To top it all off Ryan and I get to go on a school excuse-free trip to Laramie. Hotel, food, ride, everything paid for. It will be nice to get away, no class and no work. Oh I so needed this week!

Way Better!

So I moved the rug I made to my room. It looks so much better. Sorry the pictures are small, I don't know why and it was also hard to get a good picture in my tiny room. But it does look way better! Yay!

Project Hungry

I am always looking for projects to do, mainly sewing ones. I have been looking at this blog and I am so excited to try some of these! Check it out. Thanks to Sister Kristen for finding it first, I just can't get enough! http://jaynsarah.blogspot.com

One project that Sarah did that I am for sure going to try!
She is brilliant, she made this from one of those ugly long pleated skirts, so cute!

Hope I can pull it off!

It Comes With A Price

My wonderful husband let me buy these 3 new sewing items. It makes cutting out fabric so much easier.
But....
It comes with a price...

I got injured. It doesn't look too bad in the photo but it was BAD. It was a little ironic because the very second I opened the rotary cutter and let down the safety SLICE goes my thumb. I guess there really is a reason they put the safety on the cutter. Woops!

The RUG

I found this blog where this lady made her own rug. She started out by buying "duck cloth" and simply painted the zig zag stripes onto it. I loved the idea, thus the inspiration! When I went to the store I found black fabric and white fabric so I took this idea and changed it so I wouldn't be using any paint, just fabric.

Her Rug

My Rug!

First I cut out even strips of white and black fabric.

Then I sewed them together

The fabric ravels very easily so you always have to finish the seams. More work but it will lay better and not ravel.

Before I hemmed I bought some cheap black fabric and sewed it onto the back so the rug looked finished and professorial. Then I hemmed once.

And hemmed twice for a more finished look.

Creating.... The RUG!

It will surely look better when I get a new coffee table and couch with lots of very cute pillows. I did get a little impatient with this project so there are a lot of errors that later on I will seam rip and finish it the right way. But I was just so excited to show the finished product. It will be perfect later so don't look too close now.

Future Projects

As of lately I have been obsessed with DIY projects. These are just a few of the projects that I hope I can accomplish in the future (sooner rather than later would be ideal).

Vintage Suitcase Bench or Table
This is such a good idea. It's cute and think of all the extra hidden storage. If I find an awesome old suitcase I will for sure be doing this.

Paper Flower Wall Art
I have a bunch of old frames that I bought and painted black. At first I wanted to fill them with black and white pictures of me and Ryan but now I like this idea. You can make the flowers any color, shape, and size. They don't even have to be flowers if you would rather have some other cut out on your wall. I think I will try this one and see how it turns out.

Patterned Key Rack
What a simple and cute way to keep track of your keys. Ryan has a huge problem with losing his keys so I think (hopefully) if I made one of these Ryan wouldn't lose his keys anymore. This lady just covered a piece of wood with cute paper and added hooks. I love it. And you can customize it anyway you wish.
